Calcium is an essential nutrient for plant metabolism; its deficiency leads to numerous physiological disorders affecting fruits, leaves, stems, and roots. While it is a vital nutrient for the plant itself, its role within the soil environment is equally significant.

In the soil, calcium exists in various forms—such as oxalates, phosphates, and carbonates—but it enters the plant exclusively as the Ca²⁺ ion. To be available for uptake, it must be present in a dissolved state within the soil solution (the soil’s saturated extract). Furthermore, calcium plays a crucial role in forming clay-humic complexes, which increases the Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) and facilitates the displacement of toxic cations like sodium or aluminum. Additionally, it acts as an aggregating agent, improving soil structure, enhancing aeration, and promoting root development.

Calcium-containing salts in the soil are typically insoluble or have very low solubility; consequently, their transition into the soil solution is a very slow process. Therefore, applying calcium in the form of sulfates (gypsum) or carbonates is often not very effective.

With Hydro-caltrak, more effective and efficient results can be achieved, as it is compatible with various types of irrigation and fertigation systems. Due to its excellent dispersibility in water, the calcium can be delivered directly to the root zone without the need for physical mixing with the soil. High-Calcium Fertilizer and Soil Conditioner
